Specialized Agencies

The Specialized Agencies (SA) are the smallest committees at HMUN China 2014. They include national and international committees which are often fast-paced and highly interactive. Many committees on the SA deal with matters of peace and security while also considering political and economic influences.

United Nations Security Council (UNSC)

Topic A: Syrian Civil War

Topic B: Mercenaries

United Nations Conference on International Organization (UNCIO)

Topic: The Creation of the United Nations Charter

RSA Conference: Emergency Meeting

Topic: RSA Emergency Meeting

Court of the Guangxu Emperor, 1898

Topic A: Civil Reform

Topic B: Relations with the Outside World

Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs)

Non-Governmental Organizations provide new ideas and insights to debate. Delegates of this group frequent the GA and EcoSoc organs to bring a humanitarian perspective into the committees. As a crucial part of our society, NGOs are also integral to the success of the conference as they allow delegates to explore a completely new dimension of the problems they are debating and see issues beyond the scope of public diplomacy.

Press Corps

Press Corps brings in a select group of delegates who come as the press that will provide coverage for the whole conference. Equipped with cameras, pens, and wit, these reporters and journalists will be in charge of capturing the most important moments of HMUN China – be it through a new article critiquing a released resolution, a political cartoon poking fun at a controversial issue, an interview of a popular director, or simply taking photos of committees in session. Press Corps delegates will be the voice of the conference. Like NGO delegates, they will travel around to different rooms and influence debate from a different perspective. At the end of the conference, Press Corps delegates will produce their own publications. The group will act as a channel of communication that connects all committees together.
